La morte della nonna di Sarah Boutin le ha dato la possibilità di conoscere una sua amica d’infanzia, Jacqueline, una religiosa novantenne dell’ordine delle Suore della Carità del Quebec. I tre giorni trascorsi con lei nella casa di riposo del convento hanno dato a Boutin la possibilità di avvicinarsi a un tempo di serenità: gli stati di contemplazione, il silenzio e le preghiere alle quali Boutin ha assistito le hanno fatto desiderare di comprendere la vocazione di sostegno, cura e assistenza di questa comunità. Il progetto Merci pour ton agréable visite, les jolies fleurs et les délicieuses fraises (Grazie per la piacevole visita, per i bei fiori e per le deliziose fragole che mi hai fatto assaggiare) nasce da questo soggiorno. Questo lavoro fotografico, sviluppato per più di due anni con un approccio poetico-documentaristico, riflette le sue successive e regolari visite al convento. Le immagini che lo testimoniano le hanno permesso di creare un archivio della loro sorellanza.

The death of the grandmother of Sarah Boutin gave her the possibility to meet her childhood friend, Jacqueline, a ninety-year-old nun of the Sisters of Charity of Quebec. Three days spent with her at the convent’s respite house gave to Boutin the chance to approach a leisurely time: the states of contemplation, silence, and prayers Boutin encountered made her wish to understand intimately the nourishing, helping, and service vocation of this community. The project Merci pour ton agréable visite, les jolies fleurs et les délicieuses fraises (Thank you for your pleasant visit, the pretty flowers, and the delicious strawberries I tasted) takes root in this stay. This photographic work, developed for more than two years in a poetic-documentary approach, reflects her subsequent and regular visits to the convent. The images that bear witness to this allow her to create an archive of their sisterhood.
