Collecchio, February 15th, 2016 - Between Mother and Earth is the title of the exhibition by Federica Rossi, an artist from Collecchio (Parma), to whom the municipality will dedicate an exhibition on the occasion of the 10th year of her career, which will be held from April 16th to May 14th, 2016 at the Villa Soragna Cultural Center.

The inauguration is scheduled for Saturday, April 16th at 5:00 PM and will feature the special participation of art historian Philippe Daverio, who is also the curator of the critique page of the artist’s publishing catalog, which will be distributed during the exhibition.

The title Between Mother and Earth is the symbol of what all the works featured in the exhibition represent: Life.
“The mother, who is a woman, and the Earth, which is the mother, are one, they both generate Life. We living beings represent its color, its flesh, its roots,” explains Federica Rossi. “It’s in the dialogue between human beings and the environment surrounding them, based on the knowledge that we’re an essential part of it, that we can recognize nature as the bearer of rights and possibilities and understand the harmonious coexistence of all things, which is already there - and just needs to be only re-cognized and nurtured. Nature itself is our light, our guide, in the development of our humanity; it’s our teacher in this journey called life.”

Words and images will alternate in an exhibition featuring a selection of works created since 2006, thus presenting a cycle of activity that has lasted a decade. There will be 30 paintings (100x100; 100x150,120x150; 140x150), which were created with mixed technique: oil, acrylic, mortars, natural earth pigments.

“Federica Rossi guides us in understanding the nature of the earth as it was first created, of the earth as primordial matter. She physically passes from primordial magma to the first genesis of life,” says art historian Philippe Daverio. “These forms keep changing because they have not yet reached the final state towards which they’re striving; they’ve been caught while they’re still mutating, throbbing.”

Biography of Federica Rossi:

Federica Rossi was born in Parma in 1972. She lives and works in Collecchio (Parma). After graduating from the Liceo d’Arte of Parma she attended the Communications Academy of Milan. She’s always had a strong creative drive that has led her to experiment with the potential of various expressive media, starting from the field of advertising, where she worked for years as art director for various advertising agencies; she later founded her own agency in 2007. Then her love for art took over completely, leading her to decide to dedicate herself to it totally and to transform this natural impulse into a profession.
Federica interprets reality by painting and creating to fulfill her dreams and needs as an artist and as a contemporary woman.

She has had the honor of working with important representatives of the artistic world right from the beginning of her career.
In 2004 she shifted from the impetuousness of colors to experimenting with matter, both in terms of materials and of kinds of use. Her technique, which she twisted, folded and consolidated, “emerges as a mirror of the universe of forces that dominate the human soul.” Her personal mode of expression, which is closely linked to Alberto Burri in terms of its ideal point of origin, is always evolving.
Later that year, she started to organize solo exhibitions in London, Miami, Ankara, Copenhagen, Brussels, Vienna, in galleries, Italian Institutes of Culture and museums.
Her works have been featured in group exhibitions in Sweden, Miami, New Jersey, Chicago, Boston, Texas, Dubai, and are featured in both public and private collections.
