Lanieri
We innovate Italian tailoring
Lanieri was founded in September 2011 when 5 guys, attending the Master in Business Administration at Scuola di Alta Formazione al Management (italian branch of Paris College des Ingenieurs), decided to make the most of their time while studying, launching their own entrepreneurial idea.
The idea was to sell Made in Italy made-to-measure suits online; thus combining one of the most appreciated Italian excellences with an innovative way of selling.
During the Master, little by little the idea was refined exploiting both what the guys were learning and the network available through Scuola di Alta Formazione al Management.
Then, in 2012 Lanieri landed at Start Cup Piemonte prize, organized in collaboration with Politecnico di Torino and its Incubator I3P, where the brand conquered the overall second place and first place amongst the ICT startups.
At the award ceremony, Lanieri got to know the managers of Successori Reda Spa, the historic fabric supplier. Potential synergies were immediately clear to both parties, to the point that Successori Reda decided to "adopt" Lanieri, offering operational support, product expertise and the capital needed to start the business. Two of the five founders, Simone Maggi and Riccardo Schiavotto, entered Lanieri full-time, focusing respectively on IT and Marketing, in addition to many other activities which make up the daily reality of a startup.
Lanieri values and mission
Lanieri’s values reflect Italian tailoring tradition, utilizing technological innovations offered by the internet sales channel.
- Made in Italy Quality
Lanieri only uses made in Italy wools provided by historical excellent producers such as Reda and Vitale Barberis Canonico. Lanieri produces entirely in Italy with partners which have been carefully selected after having taken into account many aspects such as:
- Production methodologies and techniques
- Cut accuracy
- Affinities to methodologies of online selling
- Willingness of constant innovation
- Production quality and speed
- Service and customer satisfaction
Ensuring an impeccable service and the highest level of customer satisfaction are the cornerstones of Lanieri suits: realized in 4 weeks and delivered for free, these suits guarantee the perfect fit. In case the suit needs some tailoring adjustments, the customer can go to his trusted tailoring and make changes charging Lanieri(up to the indicated limit) for any alteration. If such alterations are not possible to make, Lanieri redoes the piece entirely.
- Innovation
Lanieri employs an algorithm that allows the translation of the 14 anatomical measures required to the customer into the technical measures needed for the finished product.
The process of taking measurements is easy, fast, and is explained in detail on the website, including explanatory videos. Once the customer has saved the measures on his profile, he can proceed with subsequent purchases in few, simple clicks, having the security of a perfectly fitting product.
Lanieri’s values are therefore synthetized within the mission: we innovate Italian tailoring.
Lanieri’s future
Lanieri was born as a pure web company and is currently in its full phase of business development. This means identifying the most efficient way to acquire and retain customers, this is not necessarily confined to the online world, but also includes integrating offline activities; in such occasions the customer can touch the fabrics and the quality of workmanship of Lanieri’s products.
The first Lanieri’s offline activity was undertaken in early 2014 in the prestigious setting of Via Della Spiga in Milan, and then continued in Via Monte di Pietà for three more times throughout the year. Customers were able to take measurement using sample suits made for the occasion and also using the body scanner.
Also in 2014 were organized other offline events, not only in Milan but also in London: the capital of bespoke.
In addition, the body scanner has been tested with great results both in Milan and London. This tool allows automatic acquisition of customer’s measurements, making easier and more technologic the whole process.
