Milan | New York, May 20, 2026 – LOTTA (Carlotta Sarina), Italian artist and climate activist, has received the People’s Choice Award at the 2026 Creative Climate Awards in New York, the recognition assigned directly by the international audience of the initiative promoted by the Human Impacts Institute.

LOTTA was the only Italian artist featured in the 2026 edition of the Creative Climate Awards, which this year brought together 59 artists from 30 countries around the world in New York City.

The award was given to the song POWER, a track born in the squares of Italian climate mobilizations together with producer Sharxx and built around the refrain “Power to the People,” which over the years has become one of the most recognizable moments of the artist’s public performances.

The overall first prize at the 2026 Creative Climate Awards was awarded to Samantha Heydt for the work CARBON: Change the Channel (Assemblage), second place went to Mohammad Rakibul Hasan for the photographic series No. 7 & 9 from The Blue Fig Series, while third place was awarded to Elise de Cuba for the film Planting Bodies.

The award received by LOTTA represents the direct choice of the international audience that followed the festival.

The recognition comes after intense weeks spent between art, music, and international activism. During her time in New York, LOTTA performed at the Creative Climate Awards for Earth Day with a live set dedicated to climate mobilization and took part in a symbolic action in front of Trump Tower together with activists from Extinction Rebellion New York, singing Bella Ciao in the heart of Manhattan.

It was also in New York, on April 16, that LOTTA launched in world premiere ACT NOW, her first official single, produced by Pierpaolo Moschino (Fluido Studio) within the Revolutional project, the activist music label developed within House of Music.

The track was released exclusively on Bandcamp, outside traditional streaming platforms, as a political and relational choice aimed at creating a direct connection between music, message, and people.

“Receiving the People’s Choice Award with ‘POWER,’ a song built around the words ‘Power to the People,’ makes this recognition even more meaningful to me,” said LOTTA. “The fact that it was the audience who awarded it is, in a way, the very meaning of the song itself.

In these past weeks I sang Bella Ciao in front of Trump Tower together with Extinction  Rebellion New York, then traveled to Colombia for the Summit on the phase-out of fossil fuels in Santa Marta, taking part in mobilizations and in the blockade of the Santa Marta port alongside the activists of the Climate Justice Flotilla. And every single time I felt the same thing: music can still bring people together, break indifference, and transform fear into movement.”

“LOTTA’s song ‘POWER’ was truly outstanding,” said Jolly Patel, Community Coordinator at the Human Impacts Institute. “Its creativity, impact, and message deeply resonated both with us and with the international audience of the Creative Climate Awards. We were honored to have the opportunity to showcase her work as part of this year’s program.”

After New York, LOTTA traveled to Colombia to participate in the international climate justice summit hosted in Santa Marta and in the Climate Justice Flotilla, a path intertwining activism, art, and global mobilization around the climate and social crisis.
