BRIEFING AI MINISTERI DEL BOTSWANA SUL PROGETTO NEL SETTORE DELL'ENERGIA RINNOVABILE
Gaborone, 29-31 Gennaio 2018 – UNIDO ITPO Italy ha organizzato una missione istituzionale ed imprenditoriale a Gaborone (Botswana) volta a conseguire due obiettivi interconnessi. In primis, l’ufficio ha presentato alle autorità locali le attività intraprese nell'ambito del progetto “Assistenza tecnica a supporto del settore privato e delle istituzioni di rilievo nel settore dell’energia rinnovabile del Botswana attraverso la promozione degli investimenti ed il trasferimento tecnologico”, implementato in collaborazione con il Ministero dell’Ambiente italiano (MATTM). In secondo luogo, è stato fornito supporto ad alcune aziende italiane interessate ad esplorare potenziali opportunità di investimento nel paese.
In riferimento al primo obiettivo, il 30 Gennaio ha avuto luogo al Masa Hotel di Gaborone un’importante conferenza arricchita dalla presenza del Vicesegretario permanente del Ministero dell'Ambiente del Botswana, sig. Thabang Leslie Botshoma. Durante l’incontro, i delegati del Botswana Investment and Trade Center hanno condiviso i risultati raggiunti grazie al programma delegati di UNIDO ITPO Italy e alla loro esperienza con diversi fornitori italiani del settore, durante la loro partecipazione alla fiera Ecomondo 2017.
L’ufficio ha inoltre facilitato l’incontro tra la Salvadori, azienda italiana specializzata nel riciclaggio dei pneumatici, e autorità, quali la Camera delle Miniere del Botswana (BCM), incaricate di sviluppare una nuova politica per la gestione dei rifiuti. La Salvadori ha avuto anche l'opportunità di visitare la discarica e le aree minerarie per promuovere la propria tecnologia sul riciclaggio dei pneumatici. Allo stesso modo, UNIDO ITPO Italy ha supportato il gruppo italiano Magaldi, attivo nel campo dell'energia solare, per stabilire il suo primo contatto con la Camera delle Miniere del Botswana al fine di illustrare la propria specializzazione sull’energia solare concentrata (CSP) nel settore minerario.
Alla luce delle attività svolte, la missione ha rappresentato un altro promettente passo in avanti per raggiungere uno sviluppo inclusivo e sostenibile, attraverso una cooperazione reciprocamente vantaggiosa tra Italia e Botswana.

Gaborone, 29-31 January 2018 – UNIDO ITPO Italy organized an institutional and entrepreneurial mission to Gaborone (Botswana) aimed at pursuing two interconnected goals. First of all, the Office has presented to the Government of Botswana the activities undertaken within the framework of the project "Technical assistance in supporting Botswana private sector and relevant institutions in renewable energy through investment promotion and technology transfer",implemented in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Environment Land and Sea (IMELS), to promote investment and technology transfer in Botswana in the renewable energy sector. Secondly, further proactive support has been provided to some Italian companies interested in exploring potential investment opportunities in the country.
More precisely, with regards to the first objective, a very important event took place on the 30th of January at the Masa Hotel enriched by the presence of the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Mr. Thabang Leslie Botshoma. On such an occasion, delegates from the Botswana Investment and Trade Center, had the chance to share the achievements of their experience with the Italian technology providers during the Italian fair Ecomondo 2017 and the UNIDO ITPO Italy delegate program.
In addition, the Office facilitated contact between the Italian company Salvadori, specialized in technology for tyre recycling, and authorities in charge to develop policy for waste management, such as the Botswana Chamber of Mines. The company had also the opportunity to visit the waste landfill and the mining areas to promote the technology on tyre recycling. Similarly, UNIDO ITPO Italy supported the Italian Magaldi Group, active in the solar power field, to establish its first contact with the Botswana Chamber of Mines (BCM) and promote its Concentrated Solar Power Technology (CSP) to the mining sector.
In the light of the above-mentioned activities, the mission represented another promising step forward to foster inclusive and sustainable development through mutually beneficial cooperation between Italy and Botswana.
