Climate artist Lotta guest of VD News at Sphera Media Lab, the European independent journalism event
The collaborative relationship between climate artist Lotta and the Instagram news page VD News continues: together in Brussels at Sphera Media Lab, the event that brings together and celebrates the leading independent entities on the European scene
Medianes, Europod, Dinamo, Arty Farty, Streetpress, El Salto, KP, just a few of Sphera Network's partners flocked to the event for a day dedicated to conferences, workshops, live recordings and screenings to celebrate independent media and their impact as essential pillars of a healthy democracy
Brussels, Jan. 23, 2025 - Climate artist Lotta is off to Brussels, hosted by VD News, to talk with journalist Samuele Maccolini about the importance of media, especially independent media, for international activism, for making connections and in general for nurturing a virtuous dialogue on which a democracy can stand. At 3 p.m. the panel “VD News with LOTTA: How a Reportage Brought French and Italian Climate Activists Together.”
First known through their Instagram reels, Lotta has been collaborating for months now with VD News for the promotion of activism, within and outside Italian borders. In fact, it is thanks to the independent newspaper that Lotta comes into contact with the artivism of Mathilde Caillard and the French collective Planète Boum Boum, with whom a strong partnership has been established that crosses the Alps. Because the climate cause has no cultural or spatial boundaries, like the crisis it seeks to combat.
“Since getting to know VD News, I know I can count on a strong media partner, one that takes charge of active and activist journalism, a facilitator of virtuous processes where direct communication struggles the most. VD News has enabled mechanisms of international artivism and cooperation that otherwise would have struggled to unfold.” Declares climate artist Lotta. “This event in Brussels confirms this and I hope that this will not end today and in this specific sphere of action, but will become a practice with which VD News, the Sphera Network of European newsrooms and as many newsrooms as possible will contribute to building the future, to ennobling the very role of journalism.”
