Decisyon’s Case Explained to Matteo Renzi

During the Prime Minister's meeting with Silicon Valley's Italian community on next Monday, Cosimo Palmisano, VP of Decisyon, will explain how Made in Italy software may become one of Italy's most renowned products in other countries and how an Italian startup has become an international company by convincing US private equity funds

San Francisco, California September 19th, 2014 – One of the main goals of Matteo Renzi’s visit to Silicon Valley is to draw a pathway connecting startups and private equity firms, to encourage the development of innovative companies – Decisyon will take part in the occasion to make a contribution to this project.

The Italian Prime Minister, in fact, will meet with Silicon Valley’s Italian startuppers on September 22nd at 06:30 PM at the Yatching Club in San Francisco. For the occasion, Cosimo Palmisano, VP of Decisyon, was invited by the Italian consul, Mauro Battocchi, to San Francisco to present the exemplary case of this former Italian startup, which was able to win US private equity funds thanks to an innovative Collaborative Decision Making and Execution platform, thus becoming a global company headquartered in Stamford, with its technological factory in Latina.

In 2009 in fact, Franco Petrucci, founder and CTO of Decisyon, perfected a collaborative business intelligence platform and decided to try to make Decisyon expand beyond Italian borders – Italy however didn’t offer the necessary funding.

In Silicon Valley Petrucci met and became partners with Palmisano, founder of ECCE/Customer (which was renamed Decisyon/Engage in the US): they both dreamed of transforming how companies made collaborative decisions and of making Made in Italy software globally renowned.

During the following three years of incubation Decisyon acquired important customers and partners in Italy – Telecom, Alpitour, and Trenitalia. In November 2012, the company obtained the largest amount of US funding received by an Italian company during the past 10 years - $15 million.

The fund was convinced by the fact that Decisyon was able to create the first business intelligence and performance management platform that seamlessly combines social collaboration, analytics, planning and implementation across the departments within a company and across different management systems.

Decisyon was later awarded more funding - $22 million – by a group of investors led by the growth equity firm Catalyst Investors.

All this has allowed Decisyon to reach 200 customers in 11 different countries and to officially enter the US market, in January 2014, with an ad hoc commercial facility added to the 100 employees and consultants who represent the company’s research and development center in Latina.

Palmisano will talk about Decisyon’s history on September 22nd to demonstrate how Made in Italy software can be considered an excellent product in other countries – a product capable of attracting investments - and to encourage startuppers to persevere in the US market by explaining to investors the opportunities offered by the Italian startup ecosystem.
