UNIDO ITPO Italy organizza la tavola rotonda Focus Cuba a Trieste
Nell'ambito del progetto “SMEs 4 Business Development China&Cuba”, volto a favorire l’apertura delle imprese della Regione Friuli-Venezia-Giulia verso due mercati strategici, CINA e CUBA, si è tenuto il 26 aprile 2017 a Trieste la tavola rotonda “Focus Cuba”.
L’evento, organizzato da UNIDO ITPO Italy in collaborazione con la Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia e l'Ambasciata di Cuba in Italia, è stato inaugurato da un incontro bilaterale nel palazzo della Regione tra la Presidente Debora Serracchiani e l'Ambasciatore della Repubblica di Cuba in Italia S.E. Alba Beatriz Soto Pimentel, incontro a cui ha preso parte anche la Direttrice di UNIDO ITPO Italy, dott.ssa Diana Battaggia.
Ricevendo l’ambasciatrice Soto Pimentel, la presidente Serracchiani ha rilevato che, sulla scia dei legami già esistenti con Cuba, vi sono tutte le condizioni perché s'intensifichino i rapporti tra la Regione e il Paese dell'America Latina, versante mondiale al quale il Friuli Venezia Giulia è votato storicamente per la diffusa presenza della rete degli emigrati e per l'attitudine internazionale del porto di Trieste. Tali relazioni - hanno convenuto la Presidente e l’Ambasciatore - vanno opportunamente strutturate e organizzate. A tale proposito, si è organizzato un incontro di approfondimento presso la sede della Camera di Commercio della Venezia Giulia, presieduto dal Presidente della Camera, Antonio Paoletti, il quale ha espresso la possibilità di organizzare un ulteriore approfondimento mirato a dare alle imprese maggiori informazioni sulle opportunità d'investimento, create dalle nuove normative entrate in vigore a Cuba, e sugli indirizzi governativi a garanzia di stabilità per il Paese.
Il Presidente dell'Autorità di Sistema Portuale del Mare Adriatico Orientale, Zeno D'Agostino, ha ricordato l’importanza dell’innovazione, elemento fondamentale, perché la competitività di un porto si sostanzia non solo con la sua capacità di essere un fulcro per i traffici ma anche per le conoscenze di settore e know how che possono essere condivise con il Porto cubano di Mariel. In aggiunta, si è parlato anche di altri settori: le costruzioni, i prodotti alimentari e i vini, l’arredamento-design, l’innovazione, la ricerca e lo sviluppo. A seguire Soto Pimentel ha auspicato la partecipazione di aziende del FVG alla Fiera dell'Avana, che si svolgerà la prima settimana di novembre, per far avere loro un contatto diretto con le opportunità presenti nell'isola caraibica.
Il progetto è finalizzato a sostenere attività di promozione nei due mercati di riferimento nell'ambito di cinque settori prioritari: costruzioni (construction&building technologies), logistica marittima (logistic maritime & supply chain), prodotti alimentari e vini (food&wine), arredamento/design (Furnishing&Design), innovazione, ricerca e sviluppo (innovation,research and know-how transfer). L'obiettivo è favorire la creazione di partenariati tra le PMI, i clusters regionali e le imprese di Cuba per rafforzare la cooperazione bilaterale e favorire il trasferimento di tecnologie innovative al fine di rafforzare la cooperazione commerciale e gli investimenti.

UNIDO ITPO Italy organized the round table "Focus Cuba" in Trieste
The round table “Focus Cuba” was held on April 26, 2017, in Trieste, in the framework of the project "SMEs 4 Business Development China & Cuba" aimed to promote the opening of Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region's companies to two strategic markets, CHINA and CUBA.
The event, organized by UNIDO ITPO Italy in collaboration with the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and the Embassy of Cuba in Italy, was launched by a bilateral meeting in the Region premises between the President Debora Serracchiani and the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Italy H.E. Alba Beatriz Soto Pimentel. The meeting was also attended by the Head of UNIDO ITPO Italy Ms. Diana Battaggia.
The President Serracchiani noted that in the same path of the existing ties with Cuba, there are all the conditions to increase the relationship between the region and this Latin America Country. In fact, Friuli Venezia Giulia is historically related to the country for the widespread presence of the emigrant network and the international attitude of the port of Trieste. These relations - as agreed by the President and the Ambassador – should be appropriately structured and organized. In this regard, an in-depth meeting was arranged at the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce of Venezia Giulia, chaired by the President of the Chamber, Antonio Paoletti, who manifested the willingness to organize further studies aimed to provide the companies with more information on Investment opportunities, created by the new regulations which came into force in Cuba, and on the governmental guidelines to ensure stability for the country.
The Chairman of the Port System Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea, Zeno D'Agostino, recalled the importance of innovation, a fundamental element, because the competitiveness of a port is characterized not only by its ability to be a pivotal point for the maritime traffics but also for the sectorial expertise and the know-how that can be shared with the Cuban Port of Mariel. In addition, other sectors have also been mentioned: buildings, food and wine products, furnishing - design, innovation, research and development. Following that, H.E. Soto Pimentel wished the participation of FVG companies at the Havana Fair, which will take place in the first week of November, to ensure them a direct contact with the opportunities in the Caribbean island.
The project is aimed at supporting promotional activities in the two reference markets in five priority sectors: construction and building technologies, logistic maritime & supply chain, food and wine products, Furnishing & Design, innovation, research and know-how transfer. The objective is to encourage the creation of partnerships between SMEs, regional clusters and Cuban companies to strengthen bilateral cooperation and promote the transfer of innovative technologies in order to strengthen trade cooperation and investments.
