CDP Venture Capital Sgr – Fondo Nazionale Innovazione invests 8 million euros with the AccelerORA! program


The operation made it possible to attract an additional 14 million euros from private investors, for a total of 22 million

Rome, August 10th, 2020 - CDP Venture Capital SGR – Fondo Nazionale Innovazione has approved a total investment of 8 million euros in 50 startups among the AccelerORA! program, made through the Fondo Acceleratori, to rapidly support worthy and innovative startups in the seed and pre-seed phases that are facing the challenges of Covid-19.

The investments will be managed by the Fondo Acceleratori. Most of the fundings located in Southern Italy are run in co-investment with the Italy Venture II Fund. The program, in partnership with 6 primary national accelerators, was able to generate investments for a total amount of over 22 million euros (including the amount invested by the Fondo Acceleratori) allocated for startups operating in these areas: Fashion, AgriTech, MedTech, eCommerce, Education, FinTech, b2b Software, SaaS and Digital Community.

According to Enrico Resmini, CEO and Executive Director of CDP Venture Capital SGR: “The AccelerORA! results make us proud, not only because we were able to help promising and deserving businesses facing the Covid-19 emergency, but also because, due to the credibility of an investment made by an institutional actor, we increased these companies’ fund raising capacity." He goes on, saying: "This result helps to make Venture Capital a strategic pillar to Italy's economic growth and innovation, creating the conditions for a comprehensive and sustainable growth of the Italian Venture Capital ecosystem."

AccelerORA! works in partnership with the main national accelerators operating in Italy. They have a proven track record in developing their portfolio startups and in managing vertical acceleration programs aimed to support companies in the initial stages of their life cycle in the best way, helping them to grow and to accompany them in collecting additional rounds of investments. The operations are carried out by accelerators, third party investors or shareholders in matching grants with the capital invested by the Fondo Accelatori. Each startup would be financed up to a maximum of 300,000 euros.
