WITH TUBER PRIMAE NOCTIS, THE "TRUFFLE NEW YEAR" IS BACK

WITH TUBER PRIMAE NOCTIS, THE "TRUFFLE NEW YEAR" IS BACK

In Moncalvo, on September 20th, the event that opens the season of the "search" of the Alba White Truffle in Piedmont

A fixed appointment, to mark the rich calendar of events linked to the International Alba White Truffle Fair, is once again the "Tuber Primae Noctis", which on Monday September 20th saw the Tuber magnatum Pico celebrated on the first night of the year in which the search begins for all the trifolao in Piedmont.

After the biological stop imposed from September 1st to 20th of each year, to avoid excessive exploitation of the environment during a fundamental moment for the maturation of the fruiting bodies, the organized "New Year of the Truffle" was here to anticipate the autumn. Thanks to the Ente Fiera del Tartufo Bianco d'Alba and in collaboration with the historic partner of the Alta Langa Consortium, we toasted with a glass of Piedmontese bubbles together with the Piedmont Region, the City of Alba and the City of Asti and the most important actors of the value chain of this area: the Langhe Monferrato Roero Tourist Board, the National Center for Truffle Studies, the Union of Piedmontese Trifulau Associations and representatives of all national and regional white truffle fairs in Piedmont.

Theater of this year's celebrations, the splendid scenery of the Orsolina 28 dance school, in Moncalvo: a space devoted to the universal language of the arts, a place transcending time, where the colors, sounds and scents of nature, the gifts and the surprises of the seasons mix with the sweetness and harmony of the landscape, creating a unique and enchanting place.

From here, at the stroke of midnight, the trifolaos left in the company of their faithful tabui in search of the most precious of the earth's gifts, protected according of regional law 16/2008, which allows the environment to enjoy the right resting times: a philosophy fully shared by the International Alba White Truffle Fair, which for its 91st edition has chosen the theme "Connected with nature".

To enrich the evening, inQuanto teatro staged the play "Il battito del bosco", from an idea by Scuola Holden’s Holden Studios. Directed by Giacomo Bogani (with Diletta Oculisti, text by Andrea Falcone and Matilde Piran, dramaturgical supervision by Lucilla Giagnoni, illustrations by Giovanni Gastaldi, music by Daniele Carcassi, costumes by Floor Robert, voice by Primo Culasso, lighting design and Laura De Bernardis), "Il battito del bosco" was born within the Pays Aimables Project, under the Interreg VA ALCOTRA Italy / France 2014-2020 Program, created by the Langhe Monferrato Roero Tourism Agency in collaboration with the Province of Cuneo. The goal of the project is the creation of new tourism products linked to the landscape, intended as the result of a sum of territory, conservation, positive anthropization and centuries-old experience. The landscape is thus realized in its most natural and genuine forms through the narration to the visitor of the seasonal dynamics at the base of the truffle heritage. In this way the landscape is also composed of the experience and the narration of the seeker, who through his interaction with nature guarantees and perpetuates its existence.

"The Alta Langa is a unique area: a synthesis of ancient traditions and new ecological awareness, it is truly a magical place where past and future are intertwined - reads the synopsis of the show -. In the same way, ‘Il battito del bosco' intertwines the voices, words and stories of those who have guarded this land for centuries, and the light-hearted and romantic gaze of those who visit it for the first time. At the center of the show is the value of the encounter: between a city girl and an old truffle hunter, between a dog and a human being, between desire and respect. The first chapter of a new story, all yet to be written".

"Tuber Primae Noctis is a highly symbolic moment, and we are happy, for this third edition, to be able to celebrate it in the land of Asti, strengthening the link between the territories of Langhe, Roero and Monferrato and, expanding the horizon, to all the regional fairs dedicated to truffles - declares the President of the International Alba White Truffle Fair, Liliana Allena -. Our thanks go to all the trifolaos for their precious work, tireless researchers on moonlit nights, in perfect harmony with their dogs. In a few days the fruit of their research will be welcomed in our Alba White Truffle World Market, a unique place inebriated by the aromas of Tuber magnatum Pico, where you can buy certified truffles under the watchful eye of the judges of the National Center for Truffle Studies. With a glass of Alta Langa DOCG raised to the sky, let's toast together to a new and exciting season of the White Alba Truffle".

"The tie between our Alta Langa DOCG wines and the Alba White Truffle in recent years has become increasingly close - comments the president of the Alta Langa Consortium, Giulio Bava -. A common territory of origin, a common sense of taste, a common feeling that brought us closer and allowed us to live an experience that starts from the table but goes far beyond. By now the combination of Alta Langa bubbles and White Truffle has made its way and established itself among the recipes of chefs and in the desires of those who love the good life. The collaboration of the Consortium with the Fair Authority and with all the actors of this extraordinary event that is the International Alba White Truffle Fair is consolidated year after year and also in this year of 2021 we are happy that it is actually a toast of Alta Langa DOCG to greet the 'New Year of the Truffle'. An important appointment to spread a deeper culture on the truffle and to take stock of the true protagonist of the International Fair: this precious and irreplaceable fruit of our lands ".

"We are proud to be able to announce that, together with president Antonio Degiacomi and the National Center for Truffle Studies, the Consortium is structuring a pilot project to raise awareness among its winemakers to dedicate a portion of land to the planting of symbiont trees of the Truffle - adds Paolo Rossino, operational manager of the Alta Langa Consortium -. These trees can be cared for directly by farmers, or agreements can be established with trifolao associations that take care of them in order to encourage good practices for the development and maintenance of truffles in the high hills of the Langa. We hope that other organizations and associations will also move in this direction: like planting a vine but more than just that; planting a tree means having the ability to imagine the future. And if planting a tree allows us to give life to the dream of a more beautiful world, planting symbiotic trees of the Truffle commits us in the direction of a better world”.
