WITH TUBER PRIMAE NOCTIS THE APPOINTMENT WITH THE "TRUFFLES NEW YEAR" IS CONFIRMED

WITH TUBER PRIMAE NOCTIS THE APPOINTMENT WITH THE "TRUFFLES NEW YEAR" IS CONFIRMED

At the Castello di Roddi, on September 20th, an event to open the “hunting season” of the Alba White Truffle in Piedmont

At the dawn of the 90th International Alba White Truffle Fair, the autumn event that allows you to enter the world and experience the allure of the Tuber magnatum Pico, the emblem of a territory universally known for the excellence of its food and wine heritage, "Tuber Primae Noctis" is back once again, with an opportunity to toast - with a glass of Piedmont sparkling wine - to the first night of the year when the search for trifulau begins, a much-awaited moment for all fans of the Alba White Truffle.

The International Alba White Truffle Fair Authority and the historic partner of the Alta Langa DOCG Consortium will be there to renew this classic toast, together with the Piedmont Region which - with its Vice President delegated to truffle affairs at the forefront,- joins the City of Alba and the most important players in the promotion of the territory: the Langhe Monferrato Roero Tourist Board, the National Center for Truffle Studies, the Union of Piedmont Trifulau Associations and representatives of all the national and regional white truffle Fairs in Piedmont. Tuber Primae Noctis will therefore be an opportunity to celebrate the beginning of the "hunting" season with a party that this year becomes an opportunity to bring together the entire world of Piedmont truffles and to offer a promotional showcase for the presentation of all Piedmont fairs.

The appointment is for Sunday September 20th, at the Castle of Roddi, a location that is the great piece of news of this edition of the Fair, with its "Truffle Hub". Here, altogether for the first time, the participants in the event – together with journalists, bloggers and representatives of institutional representatives - will wait for midnight, when the “hunting season” will officially begin. Starting off from the castle, the trifulau - accompanied by the most faithful tabui, the truffle dogs - will take to the paths in the woods, under the moonlight, in search of the most precious fruit of this land. They will start digging again, after the period of biological shutdown imposed from September 1st to 20th of each year to avoid excessive exploitation of the environment during a fundamental time for the ripening of truffles.

From Monday  September 21st to January 31st in Piedmont, hunting is allowed for Tuber magnatum Pico and all other white truffles: in this period, in accordance with regional law 16/2008, the Alba White Truffle will make its entry into restaurants, markets and shops. The first day of the "hunt" is a solemn moment because it marks the beginning of the autumn season, announces the International White Truffle Fair and prepares the entire territory to welcome visitors and tourists.

To be ready in advance for the most eagerly awaited question of this time of the year, which is: “how will the truffle season evolve”, we will again take advantage of scientific research. To enrich this "Truffle New Year", the research carried out by Professor Fulvio Romano, an honorary member of the Italian Meteorological Society, will be presented, and he will offer an overview of the forecasts on the quantity and quality of truffles for this year, based on the data collected in the past months.

At the same time, the President of the Alta Langa DOCG Consortium, Giulio Bava, will talk about the project linked to classification, strengthening the link between wine and truffles that has made this territory famous all over the world, thus taking up anew the central theme of this 90th edition of the International Fair of the Alba White Truffle.

Art will also play a leading role in the evening, thanks to the presentation of the video art work "Anotherview No 19 - La Penultima Cena / The Langhe Supper", a permanent installation that will enhance the relevance of the Roddi Castle, created by Anotherview artistic collective. The “digital nomadic window” will ideally evoke the window that, at midnight, will open wide onto the hills of the Langhe, giving the green light for truffle hunting season, accompanied by the magic of an event that remains full of surprises.

"It’s a great feeling, as well as a real pleasure, to be able to return to celebrate this second edition of Tuber Primae Noctis - declares the President of the International Alba White Truffle Fair, Liliana Allena - and I am proud to do it together with the main characters of such a special territory. I thank the trifulau for their work, tireless searchers on moonlit nights, in perfect harmony with their dogs. In a few days the fruits of their searches will be welcomed in our Alba White Truffle World Market, a unique place inebriated by the aromas of Tuber magnatum Pico, where you can buy certified truffles under the watchful eye of the judges of the National Center for Truffle Studies. With a raised glass of Alta Langa DOCG, let's toast together to a new and exciting season of the Alba White Truffle".

"The celebration of this particular 'New Year', this cheerful 'vigil' that precedes the opening of the legal season of the Alba White Truffle hunt, is a symbolic and important moment - says the President of the Alta Langa DOCG Consortium, Giulio Bava -. It helps to spread a more profound truffle culture and offers us the opportunity to take stock of the true protagonist of the International Fair: this precious and irreplaceable fruit of our lands. And for those of us at the Alta Langa Consortium it represents a new reason to toast together with all of you, protagonists of this wonderful adventure. We have been taking part in the Fair on a regular basis for five years, and by now we are its Official Wine Bubble: also tonight we’re bringing the 'Top Piedmont Bubbles' to match with a great Langa menu. This is has prompted us to dust off one of our slogans from past times: 'Piedmont pride'. For the Alta Langa, for the Fair, for the magical world of the White Truffle".
