Country Presentation Myanmar 2017
Roma, 2 febbraio 2017 – Si è svolta presso la Sala Conferenze Internazionali del Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale la Country Presentation del Myanmar, dedicata alle enormi opportunità di investimento che il Paese offre in diversi settori dell’economia. L’evento, organizzato dal Ministero Affari Esteri in collaborazione con UNIDO ITPO Italy, Ministero dello Sviluppo Economico e ICE Agenzia, ha suscitato grande interesse nelle oltre 200 aziende italiane intervenute.
All’iniziativa, parte integrante delle attività di supporto che UNIDO sta fornendo al governo del Myanmar, hanno partecipato importanti personalità istituzionali, tra cui il Sottosegretario agli Affari Esteri e Cooperazione Internazionale, Benedetto Della Vedova, il Sottosegretario di Stato per lo sviluppo economico, Ivan Scalfarotto, e il Ministro del Commercio della Repubblica dell’Unione del Myanmar, Than Myint.
Diverse le opportunità di business presentate, a partire dall’intervento di Set Aung, Vice Governatore della Banca Centrale della Repubblica dell’Unione del Myanmar, Kyaw Lin, Permanent Secretary del Ministero delle Costruzioni, Aung Naing Oo, Direttore Generale DICA (Directorate of Investment and Company Administration) del Ministero della Pianificazione e delle Finanze, Zaw Min Win, Presidente della Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry e Ken Tun, Amministratore Delegato Parami Energy; soprattutto in riferimento a tre settori specifici: infrastrutture, energia, macchinari (agroindustria, food processing, tessile), considerando anche gli strumenti a supporto di tali investimenti.
Di particolare interesse anche le testimonianze italiane, tra cui l’intervento di Piero Fassino, Presidente della Camera di Commercio Italia-Myanmar, che ha ricordato l’importanza della cooperazione politica, economica e culturale tra i 2 Paesi. UNIDO ha inoltre presentato l’approccio ISID (Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development) perseguito nel Paese, con particolare riferimento al progetto di supporto delle piccole e medie imprese in un’ottica di cluster, che l’Organizzazione sta implementando in questi anni.
I lavori, moderati dal direttore generale per la Promozione del Sistema Paese, Vincenzo De Luca, sono stati poi chiusi dall'ambasciatore italiano in Myanmar, Giorgio Aliberti, promotore dell’iniziativa e ben lieto di supportare le aziende italiane che intendano investire nel Paese.
Nel pomeriggio è stato dato ampio spazio alla sessione BtoB, in cui le aziende italiane hanno avuto modo di avere un contatto diretto con le 24 aziende birmane intervenute. Più di 200 incontri hanno avuto luogo, al fine di discutere sinergie e potenziali investimenti. UNIDO ITPO Italy seguirà il follow-up della sessione BtoB per favorire le partnership tra i 2 Paesi.

Rome, February 2nd 2017. It was held at the International Conference Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation the Myanmar Country Presentation, dedicated to the huge investment opportunities that the country offers in different economic sectors. The event, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with UNIDO ITPO Italy, the Ministry of Economic Development and ICE agency, has aroused great interest in more than 200 Italian companies that attended the event. The initiative, which is part of the support activities that UNIDO is providing to Myanmar Government, was attended by important institutional personalities, including the Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Benedetto Della Vedova, the Undersecretary of State for Economic Development, Ivan Scalfarotto, and the Minister of Trade of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Than Myint.
Several business opportunities were presented, starting from the speech of Set Aung, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Kyaw Lin, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Construction, Aung Naing Oo, Director General DICA (Directorate of Investment and Company Administration) of the Ministry of Planning and Finance, Zaw Min Win, President of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Ken Tun, Parami Energy’s CEO; especially in relation to three specific sectors: infrastructure, energy, machinery (agro-industry, food processing, textiles), taking also in consideration the instruments to support these investments.
Even the Italian interventions were very interesting, among which Piero Fassino’s speech, President of the Chamber of Commerce Italia-Myanmar, who recalled the importance of the political, economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries. UNIDO also presented the ISID approach (Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development) pursued in the country, implemented by the Organization in recent years, with particular reference to small and medium enterprises in a cluster view.
The event, moderated by the Director General for the Promotion of the Country System, Vincenzo De Luca, was then closed by the Italian ambassador in Myanmar, Giorgio Aliberti, promoter of the initiative and available to support Italian companies wishing to invest in the country.
In the afternoon the BtoB session was held, giving the opportunity to the Italian companies to have direct contacts with the 24 Myanmarese companies that attended the event. More than 200 BtoB meetings were held in order to discuss synergies and potential investments. UNIDO ITPO Italy will follow-up of the BtoB session in order to promote the partnerships between the two Countries.
