Strassburg Djoa

Miss Earth Switzerland 2013 & Architecture student at the ETH in Zurich

It was already foreseen in the high school yearbook that Miss Earth Switzerland 2013 would one day become a human rights activist. During her year of reign she served as the ambassador for a Swiss environmental project named “Jede Zelle Zählt” (Every cell counts) by my blue Planet as well as the NGO Plan Schweiz, where she introduced a campaign entitled “Because I’m a girl” throughout the country.
To this end, Djoa Strassburg organized a charity run at the Letzigrundstadion in Zurich to raise money for the slave girls in Nepal. The now 23-year old raised CHF 40,000 which she personally delivered in Nepal.
The visit to Nepal and the intensive exchange with the girls was an extremely moving experience. In addition to her work as a model for national and international campaigns, the young woman from Zurich has graced the covers of fashion magazines and is also active on the political scene.
She has participated in a number of podium discussions and taught children about sustainability. Djoa has given a TV, radio and newspaper interviews with a view to make people aware of humanitarian and environmental topics as well as to sensitize those around her about the environment and their fellow mankind.
Djoa Strassburg is currently studying Architecture at the ETH in Zurich, in addition to moderating animal reports and events sponsored by the Swiss Animal Rights group. She is also often seen on runways for sustainable labels.
The young woman from Zurich descends from a proper multicultural family. Her mother is from Angola and married an Italian while the father of the former Miss Earth is of German origin who is now married to a Chinese woman. Djoa was born in Zurich and is a resident of the city.
