Marcello holds an MS in Management and Industrial Engineering from the Technical University of Milan, Italy. He began his career in 2000 as Business Development Manager at a consumer finance start-up that is now the largest mortgage broker in Italy. In 2002, he joined General Electric’s Leadership Program, holding product manager and supply chain manager roles in several countries in Europe. In 2005 and 2006, he became Director of Global Operations of GE’s Digital Energy UPS business. Marcello joined the GLF programme in 2006. He worked at the Forum until 2010 as Head of the Retail and Consumer Goods Industries, expanding the community and developing strategic projects in the areas of sustainability and innovation. After the Forum, Marcello joined the leading Internet travel company Expedia as Director of Strategy and Business Development; in this assignment he developed Expedia’s strategy for the Lodging business, and executed global transformational initiatives. He currently leads the EMEA business of HomeAway, the leading global vacation rental marketplace with more than 1 million vacation rental listings in 190 countries, which he joined in early 2013.
