Biography 

André Coelho (b. 1972), based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is a staff photojournalist for the Spanish news agency EFE. With over 25 years of experience, he has covered assignments across South America, the United States, Europe, and Asia.

A journalism graduate, Coelho began his career in the early 1990s, documenting Rio de Janeiro’s vibrant music scene before shifting his focus to daily news and documentary photography. Over the years, he has worked with major newspapers and news agencies, including O Globo, Folha de S.Paulo, Reuters, Bloomberg, AFP, and Getty Images, both in Brazil and internationally.

His work has earned him numerous accolades, including the ExxonMobil Journalism Award in 2015, as well as recognition as a finalist for the AMB Journalism Award, among others.

Two of Brazil’s oldest and most venerable football clubs met at the Mâs Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina, for the final match of the Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol (CONMEBOL) Libertadores cup. Botafogo, a team that has never before won the cup, defeated its rivals Atlético Mineiro by 3-1. Thousands of Botafogo fans, watching the match on screens at the Nilton Santos Stadium, the team’s home stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, celebrate their team’s historic victory.
