Milan, June 26, 2024 - In partnership with NNEdPro, Smily Academy - the world's first indigenous ecobusiness academy - is pleased to announce the launch of its Executive Learning Experience, which will serve as an official pre-Summit satellite event.
This immersive program will be held in Assam, India, December 13-16, prior to the Kolkata Summit, which will be held December 17-20, 2024. The Executive Learning Experience offers participants a unique opportunity to engage with leading experts, explore real-world challenges, and co-create innovative nature-based solutions.
India will host ten days of learning, knowledge exchange, networking and connection between humans and nature as part of One Health, as a land of spirituality and biodiversity. The prestigious summit and collateral learning experience will focus on "Democratizing and Decolonizing Food and Nutrition: From Science to Society."
The initiative, organized by the NNEdPro Global Institute for Food, Nutrition and Health and the International Academy of Nutrition Educators, in collaboration with BMJ Nutrition, Prevention & Health, operates in conjunction with the World Food Forum, sponsored by FAO and many other high-level public and private organizations from more than 65 countries.
"We are delighted to have Smily Academy as an official partner of the International Summit on Food, Health and Nutrition," says Prof. Sumantra Ray, Executive Director of NNEdPro. "Their commitment to indigenous factor and regenerative and innovative approaches aligns perfectly with our mission to advance education and knowledge transfer in the field of nutrition, which is why we appointed Smily's president as one of the Summit's thematic leaders. Together, we can address pressing global challenges and promote meaningful change."
"We are honored to partner with NNEdPro and introduce the Executive Learning Experience as a key component of the Food, Health and Nutrition Summit," says Prof. Claudia Laricchia, President of Smily Academy and one of the Summit's Theme Leaders. "Our goal is to empower and train leaders in the iconic places of indigenous communities such as Assam, a global hotspot for biodiversity, the capital of medicinal plants, and the place where Jadav Payeng planted the Molai Forest 40 years ago, where we will plant a new entrepreneurial culture with the seeds of cross-sectoral collaboration and systems thinking to address the complex issues facing our planet and especially life on Earth."
"Working toward a more sustainable world, it is essential to integrate health and nutrition initiatives with environmental conservation efforts. For this reason, I believe NNEdPro is the ideal partner for our Smily Academy, and this was very clear during the last learning experience when we had the honor of hosting Prof. Sumatra Ray from Assam as a member of our Faculty." Environmentalist Jadav Payeng, The Forest Man of India and co-founder of Smily Academy, concludes.

SMILY Academy, an acronym for Sustainable Mindset and Inner Level for Youth, is the world's first indigenous accelerator aimed at creating sustainable youth enterprises from a new approach based on consciousness and human-nature reconnection. Founded by indigenous peoples and specifically by The Forest Man Foundation and the World Indigenous Peoples Forum NGO on Climate Justice, SMILY has 3 branches in emerging countries, Brazil in the Amazon Rainforest; Ghana, Africa; and Assam, India.
The Forum is based in Assam, India, the most iconic place for biodiversity, wildlife and health, with its over 100 medicinal plants; 97 indigenous communities; and the world's top 10 biodiversity parks in Kaziranga. The Forum represents hundreds of thousands of indigenous and local communities around the world. These are 97 communities with more than 20 million people in northern Assam alone, and according to IPLC constituency of the UN. Altogether, we are talking about 5 percent of the world's population protecting 85 percent of the world's biodiversity and living on an average of $5 a day.
