Sardinia becomes global. The italian embassy in London and iStarter introduced Clhub, as investment opportunity, to the financial community in London
[London] – 13thOctober - This 13th October, in the Italian Embassy in London, has been held the private event "Sardinia Goes Global" with the intent of presenting Clhub as an investment opportunity to London's financial community and to tell the audience, through two case history like Moneyfarm and Veranu, how sardinian realities are trying distinguish themselves in the field of digitalization and internationalization, with Veranu, as new company that is growing very fast and Moneyfarm as well known and successful company.
The event is being hosted an organaized by Italian Embassy in collaboration with iStarter, italian accelerator based in London, an Clhub, a new sardinian venture incubator.
They will present a group of speakers to the London financial community in order to highlight Sardinia, Clhub, their sartuos and their groundbreaking push into the International market.
“Sardinia Goes Global” is under the patronage the Autonomous Region of Sardinia with the partnership of Italia Startup.
Organaizers
The Italian Embassy in London coordinates a network composed by 2 consulates, 2 institutes of culture (London and Edinburgh), 1 office ICE and 1 office ENIT. The embassy Staff, through different offices, is composed by personnel of the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and by personnel of other Italian Ministries and Public Organisms.
Clhub, Venture incubator that supports companies and startups from the seed stage or idea phase to the process of growth and internationalization. Primary focus of Clhub’s investments is the the digital sector and more classical industries of Made in Italy like food and design.
Istarter, Corporate accelerator that supports companies with seed capitals and its experience to startuppers through its diversified network of young professionals and senior advisors.
Case History
Moneyfarm is an independent online financial consulting company, born in 2011 and operating from 2012, with branches in Milan, Cagliari and London and winner of the Fintech award at “StartupItalia! Open Summit 2015”. The primary objective of moneyfarm is to help people to better manage their finances in an easier and most efficient way.
Veranu is the flooring solution that generates clean energy by simply walking on it and has as mission to help develop more sustainable energetic lifestyles, respecting the environment from a different perspective, starting from ourselves and our actions.
The event
The event has been strongly wanted after the recent investment by iStarter in Clhub, announced this 5 October. The operation has been successfully officialized with the implementation of Simone Cimminelli, Co-Founder and Managing Director of iStarter, in Clhub Board, composed now by Simone Cimminelli, Riccardo Sanna, CEO, Giovanni Sanna, Executive Chairmen and Andrew Apodaca, Business Developer.

Terracciano, l’Ambasciatore Italiano a Londra, che ha accolto i presenti con una lettera del Presidente della Regione Francesco Pigliaru il quale ha voluto sottolineare il proprio supporto all’iniziativa e ringraziare i Co-Founder di Clhub, Simone Cimminelli di iStarter.
To give a kind welcome and wish a good start for this new collaboration has been Pasquale Q. Terracciano, Italian ambassador in London, that welcomed the guests with a letter from the President of the Sardinian Region Francesco Pigliaru, which open the session by making present his support to the initiative and to thanks Clhub Co-Founders and Simone Cimminelli of iStarter.
“Sardinia defines itself now as a true Digital District that through the years has been capable of of creating a supporting environment for the development of high number of startups. We are investing energies and resources to give better perspectives for our youth and to spur them to invest in human capital, the innovation within our island and through the collaboration of companies, also non sardinian ones, which is for us fundamental to create a true digital ecosystem that allows growth in this industry.” (an extract from president Francesco Pigliaru letter
Moreover, Alessio Calcagni, Veranu CEO, and Alessandro Onano Moneyfarm CMO, wished to thank for this opportunity to be present today also to testify Sardinia as fertile ground for startups that wish to scale internationally.
After the letter, the Ambassador gave his start to the event reminding the guests that Italian government is working very hard to contribute in a significative way to the creation of norms that will help spur the growth of the ecosystem with the end of facilitating the scalability of Startups.
Then, with the announce of the investment of iStarter in Clhub, Official from this 5 October, he gave the word out to Simone Cimminelli, now inside Clhub Board, remarking that this perfectly combines to what he previously said and that the direction where Clhub is going is the same one of Italy.
Simone Cimminelli, invited the guests to look to Sardinia from another perspective: not only as a tourist destination, but also as Italian innovation Hub.
“I could not be more proud of the results reached by istarter, now London looks to Italy as a true investment opportunity and Sardinia brought as proof here today 3 important examples.”
Clhub, with Giovanni Sanna as spokesperson then declared:
“Sardinia has historically been an innovative protagonist in Italy starting from Unione Sarda as the first online newspaper in Europe, CRS4 with the first worldwide webmail and Tiscali as the first Sardinian telecommunication and internet company went public.
Clhub aims at being a real hub of innovation ready to expand worldwide thanks to American Investors, whose relationships are consolidated, and now also in London with iStarter. Sardinia Goes Global is not only the name of this event but also and more importantly an objective we always have to keep in mind (..).
We have validated today our incubation program that aims at internationalization and the results are today tangible, just look at the path and the results reached by Veranu today thanks to our program.”
Veranu has been then the second to tell its story today at the event as innovative idea that starts from 3 Sardinian engineers and that represents a concrete contribution for the safeguard of the environment and the reduction of CO2 emissions.
To conclude the event has been Moneyfarm, startup that has today its headquarter in Milan and that sinks its roots in Sardinia.
Alessandro Onano, boasted the preparation and the technical knowledge of the people working in Sardinia, which highly contributes to make it as the ideal territory to start a startup with a fertile ecosystem that is constantly growing.
"Today has been an outmost important day for Clhub, at the conculsion of the event Riccardo Sanna, Clhub CEO, summed the event with these words:
“If someone would have told me at the beginning of this adventure that we would have been received as guests in the Italian Embassy in London to present our project in front of an audience of investors, people so influencial in the finance and startup community, I never would have believe that.
I am proud of what we have done so far which brought us to this goal.
Will be difficult to forget the words of appreciation from the ambassador and the guests.
There is still a lot to do but I can't wait to continue and to bring up higher this Sardinian reality."
