The agreements are managed by the Fondo Italia Ventures II which expands its plafond from 6 to 8 million euros for future investments with this operation
Rome, August 13th 2020 - CDP Venture Capital SGR - Fondo Nazionale Innovazione approves investments for 5.7 million euros, as part of the Seed per il Sud program, aimed to sustain young innovative companies in the South of Italy. These investments are intended for 30 startups in the seed and pre-seed phase, selected from the 67 companies screened by the CDP Venture Capital SGR - Fondo Nazionale Innovazione in partnership with 18 accredited accelerators in the South. The deals are managed by the Fondo Italia Ventures II, which with this operation extends its plafond for future investments from 6 to 8 million euros.
23 of the 30 interventions already deliberated have been signed and the next 7 will be in the first weeks of September. 14 of these startups are resident in Campania, 8 in Puglia, 4 in Calabria, 3 in Sicily and 1 in Sardinia. Six are co-invested by Fondo Acceleratori.
The investment generated an attracting effect of an additional 4.3 million euros of private capital, bringing the total placement to 10 million euros.

Seed per il Sud is a concrete action that bets on the talent and human capital of young people and women, activating innovation potentials that have remained unexpressed, and creating new opportunities for qualified work, with the goal of making the South a true laboratory of sustainable innovation."
Seed per il Sud is an initiative of the Fondo Italia Venture II which aims to finance startups with interventions up to a maximum of 300 thousand euros each, by September 2020. This specific action, in particular, was created in collaboration with the main accelerators and business incubators to cope with the emergency situation resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic. The aim is to quickly help startups in Southern Italy with high growth potential and innovative technologies or products, introducing new resources already in the seed and pre-seed phase, favoring the development of a flow of quality investments also ready for subsequent interventions and matching between startups and qualified subjects.
