Nextome technology crosses borders and lands in Berlin to power the SMAU 2015 exhibition app. SMAU Berlin is taking place on the 12th and 13th of March in the German capital, one of the most vibrant European startups hubs.
Nextome, born in Apulia but with the goal to conquer the world markets thanks to its advanced indoor positioning technology, will represent the growing Italian startup ecosystem together with a selection of 50 startups. SMAU Berlin is the most important Italian exhibition dedicated to innovation and digital businesses this year in Germany; the exhibition will focus on the digital quality of Made in Italy and introduce the EXPO 2015 the World event that will take place in Milan for May to October 2015.
The app powered by Nextome technology will be the official application of SMAU BERLIN 2015 and will allow visitors to easily locate pavilions and exhibitors within the exhibition space of Palazzo Italia which will host for two days entrepreneurs, investors, and startup representatives of the Italian Regional Governments. This is the first time that an Italian Exhibition Institution adopts a technology of indoor positioning and navigation, and probably one of the first in the world.
Nextome is an indoor positioning and navigation system based on an infrastructure of devices compatible with Apple iBeacon standard and smartphones, either iOS or Android, provided with Bluetooth 4.0LE technology. The localization algorithm of Nextome, which is patented, is able to use, adapt and improve several technologies for the indoors navigation. The whole algorithm performance is done within the smartphone without need of constant communication between phone and server, in this way the app is totally usable even where internet doesn’t work.
