UNIDO ITPO Italy and CremonaFiere deliver business opportunities in the dairy and livestock sectors between Italy and Pakistan

The virtual conference “Delivering business opportunities between Italy and Pakistan: dairy and livestock sectors”, organized by UNIDO ITPO Italy in collaboration with CremonaFiere, was successfully held on 4 December 2020, promoting investment and business opportunities in the livestock and dairy sectors of Pakistan to Italian enterprises operating in the field.

Notably, the event featured the opening remarks of Ms. Diana Battaggia, Head of UNIDO ITPO Italy, Eng. Massimo De Bellis, Director General of CremonaFiere, and the Ambassador of Pakistan to Italy, H.E. Jauhar Saleem, as well as the participation and closing remarks of H.E. Andreas Ferrarese, Ambassador of Italy to Pakistan, and Mr. Roberto Neccia, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Italy in Pakistan. 

The panel discussion was moderated by Mr. Dino Fortunato, Chief Technical Advisor at UNIDO ITPO Italy, and saw the interventions of prominent institutions, organizations, companies, associations, and other relevant stakeholders in the field from both Italy and Pakistan. In this framework, Dr. Shehzad Amin, CEO at the Pakistan Dairy Association, highlighted the Pakistani market dynamics, figures and opportunities in the dairy sector; Ms. Seema Raza Bokhari, Director General of Investment Promotion at the Board of Investment, presented the special economic zones, existing incentives and regulatory framework in Pakistan for both local and foreign investors; Mr. Gianfranco Solari Fernandez, Export Manager at Intermizoo, introduced the company’s cutting-edge technologies for zootechnics and animal genetics improvement; Mr. Marco Pignagnoli, International Sales Manager at Rota Guido Srl, promoted innovative farming techniques based on sustainability, bioenergy and circular economy models; finally, Mr. Muhammad Azam of Shakarganj Food Products Limited concluded the panel illustrating a success case of local excellence in the country.

Organized with the support of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan in the framework of the project in Pakistan financed by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), the event succeeded in providing a platform for the identification of business opportunities within the Pakistani dairy and livestock sectors and the promotion of innovative solutions from Italian companies, creating synergies for the development of potential partnerships in the field between Italy and Pakistan.

As a follow-up activity to this event, individual business meetings will be organized and attended by UNIDO ITPO Italy and CremonaFiere, with the goal of facilitating the dialogue between business operators of Italy and Pakistan and paving the way for new initiatives in 2021.
