UNIDO ITPO Italy participated in the BioBusiness2019, supporting the signing of the Letter of Intent between BioCubaFarma and CBM-Smart Health FVG

November 27th, 2019 - From 25th to 27th November UNIDO ITPO Italy participated in the first edition of the forum BioBusiness held in Havana, the international workshop on business development in biotechnology and pharma industries organized by the Group of Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries of Cuba (BioCubaFarma) with the support of UNIDO ITPO Italy and Friuli Venezia Giulia (FVG) region of Italy.

The three-day event featured multiple sessions of conferences and a business forum, and it was attended by over 80 participants from 14 countries. In the framework of the project implemented in collaboration with the FVG region, UNIDO ITPO Italy supported the participation of a delegation of four innovative companies accompanied by CBM, the Smart Health cluster of the FVG region.

On November 25th, in the framework of the workshop, a Letter of Intent has been signed between BioCubaFarma and CBM-Smart Health Cluster FVG. The objective of the agreement ratified between the two clusters is to further develop the collaboration started in the framework of the project implemented by UNIDO ITPO Italy and funded by the FVG region of Italy to promote transfer of technology and investments opportunities in the Cuban smart health sector.

During the workshop, UNIDO ITPO Italy presented its mandate and activity, as well as the project focused on the smart health sector of Cuba, and the Cluster Manager of CBM and the four companies (AB Analitica, Alifax, Eurospital and Serichim) supported by UNIDO ITPO Italy introduced their activities and respective companies, sharing information on their services, their products and their business models.

On November 27th a BtoB session has been organized and the managers of the Italian delegation from the FVG region had the opportunity to carry out promising bilateral meetings with their Cuban counterparts.

The participation to the workshop BioBusiness has provided a unique opportunity to acquire valuable first-hand information and explore the opportunities to set beneficial alliances between Italian and Cuban stakeholders. Besides, the signature of the Letter of Intent between the two clusters, endorsed by UNIDO ITPO Italy, could represent an important step to develop synergies and define future partnerships between the companies of BioCubaFarma and those of CBM-Smart health Cluster FVG.
