D-Orbit announces two new appointments to the Company group
Fino Mornasco (CO), Italy - September 30, 2019: D-Orbit is proud to announce the appointing of Simon Reid and Bruno Carvalho, as COO D-Orbit UK and Vice President Business Development D-Orbit PT respectively.
With 30 years of experience in the space industry, Simon will be leading the team of D-Orbit UK, the new commercial company located in Harwell, United Kingdom. The new company joins D-Orbit’s main HQ in Como Lake, Italy, D-Orbit PT in Lisbon, Portugal, and D-Orbit US in Washington DC, United States, playing an important role in D-Orbit’s ongoing expansion strategy.
D-Orbit UK creates an ideal bridge to the burgeoning New Space market in the UK and beyond, including the US and developing nations. UK office will initially focus on the expansion of InOrbit NOW services, a family of end-to-end solutions for the New Space market, and access to new geographical markets.
Simon is a business and technical manager with 30 years of experience in the space industry, developing system architecture and operational software systems for clients such as European Space Agency, Eumetsat, Eutelsat, Galileo & the UK Space Agency.

D-Orbit is also pleased to announce the appointing of Bruno Carvalho as VP Business Development of D-Orbit PT, LdA.
Bruno will oversee the delivering of D-Orbit Mission Control Cloud Solution to the market, an end-to-end space vehicles control platform deployed on a cloud infrastructure and ubiquitously accessible through a web interface. The Mission Control Cloud Solution shortens the time to market and reduces the costs associated with the control of a wide variety of space missions, for satellites and constellations, while also facilitating ground communication accessibility, space data integration, and the exploitation of downstream applications.
Bruno is a computer engineer with more than 15 years of professional experience in space systems, particularly in high integrity software development, and more than 10 years on business development with companies such as SCISYS and Critical Software. In 2017 Bruno founded Ilex Space, a company focused in business development support for space companies. Bruno joined D-Orbit PT, assuming responsibility of the Portuguese operation, in July 2019.
