"RESTART" ITALIA STARTUP

The expansion of the association to new leading players in the startup field confirms the centrality and uniqueness of the ecosystem’s institutionally representative role.

Paolo Barberis, founder of Nana Bianca e cofounder of Italia Startup, was appointed Councillor for Innovation of the Presidency of the Council.

Milan, July 18th 2014 – The Assembly that was held today in Milan marked a very important moment in the life of Italia Startup, the non-profit association that represents the Italian startup ecosystem. The expansion of the membership base is definitely the most significant factor, with the entry of enterprises (especially Facilitators, Investors and Companies) that are consolidating the representative role of the entire ecosystem, from individuals to startups, to incubators and investors, to businesses and professional firms.

The entry in the Association and in the Board of Directors of associations such as Italian Angels for Growth with Marco Villa, of facilitators that are highly active in the field such as Startup Italia with Riccardo Luna, Talent Garden with Davide Dattoli, U-Start with Vittorio Mauri, Meta Group with Anna Amati and StartupCT with Antonio Perdichizzi, of investors such as Key Capital with Giorgio Di Stefano, of incubators such as Trento Rise with Paolo Lombardi and of startups such as Cloudesire with Eddy Fioretti, Findyouritaly with Andrea Monti, Easynex with Fausta Pavesio, Bemyeye with Gianluca Petrelli and Tara Consulting with Caterina Siclari.

The Assembly also approved, on the basis of the reflections of the past few months, an enlargement of the Board of Directors. So starting today, there will be 31 people who make up the Council, who will be divided as follows, according to the legal figures that are present in the Association: 9 startups, 8 incubators, 6 investors and 7 facilitators, to which a Treasurer is added.

We’re thrilled, said Riccardo Donadon, President of Italia Startup, with the appointment of Paolo Barberis, Founder of Nana Bianca and co-founder of Italia Startup, as Councillor for Innovation of the Presidency of the Council. I am sure that Paolo, in his new role, will know how to interpret the needs and how to enhance the opportunities of the Italian startup ecosystem in view of development of the country, which needs new energy and to set up an economic policy strategy for the digital field with increasing urgency.”

The Assembly has ratified a number of decisions that will become operational after the summer. The Board of Directors, in fact, will appoint a small Executive Committee consisting of 6 Councillors, and will be joined by a Board of representatives of the industry, who will first of all have to increase the effectiveness of the proposals made by the assembly and by the Board of Directors, and in second place must match Italy’s industrial development with the growth of new innovative enterprises.

The Assembly has also made major changes to the Statute (which will soon be published in its new version) in order to make the Association increasingly cohesive and more effective in relation to institutional and private interlocutors.

With these initiatives, underlines Federico Barilli, Secretary General of Italia Startup,  the Association has confirmed its role as an independent entity that can bring together all those who believe in the revival of the economy through the support and development of new innovative enterprises. The renewal process initiated, the entry of the new members, the willingness to involve important personalities from our ecosystem, confirms our commitment to being leaders in the creation of an environment favorable to the development of innovative startups. The decisions adopted by the Members’ Assembly represent the foundations that are necessary for engaging members and the entire ecosystem, in view of encouraging institutions, private entities and the general public to launch initiatives aimed at giving startups the strength to become the carriers of the nation’s economy, in view of innovating products and processes.”
