State of the Net is a free conference where Italian industries and tech communities can meet in order to investigate the dynamics and opportunities in the current digital scenario. This will be the fourth edition of SotN from June 12th to 14th at Molo IV in Trieste (Italy) and, as every year, it will gather the most relevant opinion makers, entrepreneurs and journalists from Italy, Europe and the United States. The General Manager of DWS, Maurizio Costabeber, will give a speech on June 13th at 15.00 in a debate dedicated to sectors and companies that have reinvented their business and that want to spread their experiences. The moderator will be Massimo Russo, director of the renowned magazine Wired. The format of the conference is based on main themes which are then discussed in open conversations with experts and all the attendees. The main theme this year will be Smart Life:

“Our world is changing and evolving in ways we have never experienced before. You can print a replacement part for your washing machine at home with your 3D printer. You can jump in a car anywhere in the city and drop it off wherever you need. You can use an app to learn how to write software, make sourdough bread or meditate. State of the Net is the place where you can share ideas and experiences”.

This event will be entirely in English and it aspires to a great turnout.

DWS is the only Italian company today capable of developing systems for prototyping and rapid production through implementation of stereolithography technology, with in-house manufacture of all the necessary resins and materials. It exports 95% of its production to over 60 countries around the world and is divided into four business units: jewellery, dental, general applications and, from today, also consumer goods. The company’s mission is to take 3D printing to the highest levels of precision and definition, helping businesses to considerably lower costs, making them more streamlined and competitive, with outside-the-box thinking and maximum freedom for creativity in every sector.

DWS pays a great deal of attention to Italian and international excellence. An essential part of its social, cultural and economic surroundings, a company can freely decide whether to develop these as resources or not. Synergies between public and private entities, between university and company, the company and its territory, play a fundamental role in raising the cultural growth rate of the whole country. Business does not mean just work and profit; it also signifies cultural and social growth and development. Today 3D printing is the next big bang for the international economy.

DWS, Digital Wax Systems, was founded in Vicenza in 2007, drawing on lengthy consolidated experience in prototyping.

DWS develops hi-tech solutions for prototyping and high-speed production, with the aim of reducing development times for new products and, as a consequence, time to market. These systems have become must-haves and strategic resources for corporate competitiveness. The goal of DWS is to innovate processes to make production faster and more flexible.

The advantages that qualify DWS as an excellence can be summarised as follows:

  • the use of new-gen photosensitive resins and materials developed in-house
  • the innovative BluEdge® laser system
  • dedicated software
  • the absence of the immersion in resin phase
  • speed, accuracy and high surface quality

The production process is one of its kind and protected by international patent. DWS is leader in the jewellery sector and also an important player with very interesting solutions for the dental sector and industrial applications in general.
Thanks to their simple working and reduced number of moving parts, DigitalWax® systems stand out for their high reliability and extremely reduced maintenance. Their great flexibility is made possible by rapid material changes, with no preheating or calibration times.
The machines are run by dedicated software, perfectly compatible with CAD/CAM programmes available on the market. DWS systems can make the best prototypes and finished products in terms of high definition and resolution, directly from an STL file.
BluEdge®, a class 3B laser source produced by the DWS R&D centre, produces ultraviolet rays that solidify the photosensitive resin layer by layer. Thanks to vertical positioning, the modelling platform adjusts to match the thickness of the solidified layer. This movement, synchronised with that of the laser, produces solid 3D models of exceptional complexity and precision.

Quality and constant innovation are our keywords. DWS products are proving to be very successful there where excellent results are called for in terms of finished product quality and machine reliability. A high level of innovation requires great attention to and protection of intellectual property. In just a few years, DWS has registered dozens of patents to protect its technological and design innovations.

DWSLAB - XFAB®

It is a consumer oriented project, a revolutionary printer that can bring the technology of stereolithography to reach the makers and designers world: a product that can make medium size objects with a cylindrical working volume of 180x180 mm and the possibility of working with 9 different materials.
From the experience of the professional sector was built a 3D printer that will satisfy all makers: in addition to the accuracy and surface quality, XFAB® allows the flexibility of professional printers thanks to a wide range of materials: from rubber-like, ABS to colourful nanoceramic.

XFAB® characteristics delineate the ideal system for designers, inventors, engineers and makers.
