and Advanced Automotive Electronic Engineering

Registration is now open for the international and inter-university Master’s degree courses in Advanced Automotive Engineering and Advanced Automotive Electronic Engineering through two portals: www.international.unimore.it/bandilan.html

 www.ingegneriarchitettura.unibo.it/it/bacheca/attivazione-di-due-nuovi-corsi-di-laurea-magistrale

International students, who need a visa to enter Italy, must apply by the dates specified in the two calls for entry - May 18th and June 19th. The evaluation stage will begin at the end of registration, with personal interviews aimed at selecting 20 students from countries outside the European Union out of a total of 150.

The call for entries for Italian and European students will be published in May.

New York, May 4 2017 – A call for entries has now officially been released for the enrollment of international students from countries outside of the European Union in the international and inter-university Master’s degree courses in Advanced Automotive Engineering - which offers professional training in Advanced Powertrain, Advanced Motorcycle Engineering, Advanced Sportscar Manufacturing, High Performance Car Design and Racing Car Design - and in Advanced Automotive Electronic Engineering; both courses are promoted by the association Motorvehicle University of Emilia-Romagna (MUNER).

The association was strongly endorsed by the regional administration of Emilia-Romagna and is made up of four universities in Emilia-Romagna - the University of Bologna, the University of Ferrara, the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, the University of Parma - and of the motor companies that represent the world’s top Italian automotive products, whose history is deeply rooted in the territory: Lamborghini, Dallara, Ducati, Ferrari, Haas F1 Team, HPE Coxa, Magneti Marelli, Maserati and Toro Rosso.

“In this globalized world that we find ourselves in, competition is no longer between businesses, but between territorial systems. For this reason we’re presenting ourselves as a territorial system made up of companies, universities and institutions. This is a territorial system that will become attractive not only for other international companies but also for the world’s best students. Our aim is to create and enhance innovation in the automotive field by creating synergy between universities, research institutes and the industry,” said Andrea Pontremoli, CEO of Dallara Automobili and the new President of MUNER. “We will have the opportunity to select the best students, and this will definitely help to train the best professionals: this is how the future of our country will be built."

Enrollment

International students from outside the EU who wish to enroll in the Advanced Automotive Engineering training course must register by May 18th on the portal of the University of Modena and Reggio-Emilia (UNIMORE) at the following link: http://www.international.unimore.it/bandilan.html

There are 12 places available out of 120 - the remaining places will be assigned to Italian and EU students based on a call for entries that will be released in May.

The Master’s Degrees

The courses, which are completely held in English, provide both theoretical teachings and lab sessions that are held in the universities and in the company laboratories of the industrial partners, to help students develop high-level professional skills, based on a learning by doing mindset.

Mandatory internships will be held at partner companies, while dissertation activities, which will be organized based on a project work methodology, will be held at university and company research laboratories.

The degree course in Advanced Automotive Engineering is aimed at providing knowledge and skills related to the design of motor vehicles and motorcycles that are high-performance and suitable for competitions. Training is based on five professional profiles that are assigned on the basis of ranking and on the interests declared by students: Advanced Powertrain (up to 25 places at the University of Bologna and up to 25 places at the University of Modena), Advanced Motorcycle Engineering (up to 25 places at the University of Bologna), Advanced Sportscar Manufacturing (up to 25 places at the University of Bologna), High Performance Car Design (up to 25 places at the University of Modena), Racing Car Design (up to 25 places at the University of Modena, while the courses of the second year will be held in Parma). The first semester of the first year of the course will be held at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and from the second semester included the course will be held at the Universities of Bologna, Modena and Reggio Emilia and Parma, depending on the chosen professional profile.

The degree course in Advanced Automotive Electronic Engineering is aimed at training electronic engineers with a professional profile suited for designing, developing and producing the main sub-systems that make up road motor vehicles, with a special focus on the premium and motorsport segments of the market. The first year of the course will be held at the University of Bologna, while later it will be held at the University of Modena and Reggio.

Scuderia Toro Rosso
Scuderia Toro Rosso has been competing in the Formula 1 World Championship since 2006. The team was created with a view to form and give wings to the stars of the future coming through the ranks of the Red Bull Junior Driver Programme. The team's driver line-up is the perfect synthesis of that goal, as we go into battle with two very young and very high-skilled drivers, Carlos Sainz and Daniil Kvyat.

When the team was first established it operated partly as a satellite to Red Bull Racing, running a car designed mainly by Red Bull Technology. However, since 2010, Scuderia Toro Rosso has run completely independently, doing all the car design and manufacturing work in-house in Faenza. This necessitated a major expansion programme for the factory. The Italian side of the operation is supported by the team's wind tunnel facility in Bicester, England. Team Principal Franz Tost has been at the helm since 2005, while the technical side is managed by Technical Director James Key.
Currently the team has one win and one pole position to its name, both courtesy of Sebastian Vettel, who produced the fairytale result at the team's home race, the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, back in 2008. Since the team’s debut up until now, Scuderia Toro Rosso has improved year after year and is now a clear rival for the rest of the top mid-field teams. The aim still remains the same: to add as many points as possible to the team’s tally each race and become a fixed top contender in the Constructors’ Championship.
