After graduating in Electronic Engineering at the Università di Bologna, he carried out research activities at CESI (Centro Elettrotecnico Sperimentale Italiano) in Milan from 1987 to 1989.
Working at the Università di Parma since 1990, he currently holds the position of full professor of Electric Converters, Machines and Drive Systems.
His main research fields are:

  • High-dynamic and high-efficiency electric drive systems for industrial automation, and electric traction for low environmental impact vehicles.
  • Storage and conversion systems for electricity from renewable sources (photovoltaic, wind), both for net metering and island mode.
